PDP president Mehbooba Mufti criticised the judiciary while reacting to the Supreme Court's observation that it had not approved the Election Commission's modified Form 6.

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has criticised the judiciary, alleging that courts often make strong observations during hearings but deliver judgments that do not reflect those remarks.

Her comments came after fact-checker Mohammad Zubair highlighted a discrepancy over the Election Commission's claim that the Supreme Court had approved the modified Form 6 used for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Mufti reposted Zubair's note questioning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's statement and criticised what she described as a pattern of judicial inaction over the past decade.

She also referred to the Supreme Court's recent observation that it had not approved any modified version of Form 6, saying it illustrated the gap between observations made during court proceedings and subsequent judgments.

In a post on X, Mufti wrote, “So what? Over the last ten years, the judiciary has repeatedly normalised acts that amount to contempt of court and simply moved on. Lofty observations are made in court, but when the time comes to deliver a judgement, the outcome is often entirely at odds with those very remarks.”
