New Delhi: The Supreme Court has been moved by the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) alleging “systemic failure” in the conduct of NEET-UG 2026 and seeking reforms in the examination system.

The petition follows the cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted by the National Testing Agency on May 3, which was annulled on May 12 amid allegations of a paper leak now under probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Filed through advocate Tanvi Dubey, the plea has sought a comprehensive overhaul of the national testing framework, including replacement of the NTA with a more autonomous body.

The association cited reports that “guess papers” circulated on encrypted platforms matched over 100 questions from the actual examination.

It has urged the court to direct the government to establish a “technologically advanced and autonomous body” to conduct such examinations and to restore credibility.

FAIMA has also sought the constitution of a high-powered monitoring committee, headed by a retired Supreme Court judge and comprising cybersecurity and forensic experts, to oversee the re-conduct of the examination.

The cancellation has affected over 22 lakh candidates, with uncertainty over the revised examination schedule, admit cards, centres and counselling process.
