MEA: Modi to Visit Oman, Strengthen Ties

New Delhi:India is hopeful of inking a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) with its close strategic partner Oman during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi there next week, top MEA officials indicated on Friday evening.

At a special media briefing, the MEA's secretary (CPV & OIA) Arun Chatterjee also confirmed that Oman would be supplying spare parts for India's Jaguar fighter aircraft fleet. He said Oman had retired its Jaguar fleet and that the spare parts would reach India within a few days.

India on Thursday evening had announced the visit next week of Prime Minister Modi to Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman from December 15-18. Modi will also address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament during his visit to the African nation, the MEA's secretary (south) Neena Malhotra told reporters.

In the first leg of the visit, at the invitation of Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, Prime Minister Modi will undertake a visit to the Hashemite Kingdom on December 15 and 16. He will meet King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein to review the entire gamut of relations between India and Jordan, and exchange perspectives on regional issues. PM Modi is also expected to discuss the situation in Gaza with the Jordanian leadership.

On the second leg of the visit, PM Modi will visit Ethiopia for the first time on December 16 and 17, 2025. He will be holding wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed Ali on all aspects of India – Ethiopia bilateral ties. Both nations are also partners in the Global South.

On the third and final leg of the visit, at the invitation of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman, the Prime Minister will visit the Gulf nation on December 17 and 19. This will be the second visit of Prime Minister Modi to Oman. India and Oman share an all-encompassing Strategic Partnership underpinned by centuries-old bonds of friendship, trade linkages and strong people-to-people ties."
