Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the Tiger Shroff firing case. The Crime Branch has so far arrested 11 people allegedly linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with the case.

“Provisions of MCOCA, 1999, have been invoked in DCB CID CR No. 143/26, registered on 19/10/26 u/Ss 109(1), 3(5) of BNS r/w Sections 3, 25 of the Arms Act, with permission of the competent authority under Section 23(1)(a) of the said Act dated 27/10/26. Accordingly, Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2) and 3(4) of MCOCA have been added to the said case against all accused. Further investigation is ongoing,” the Mumbai Police said in a statement.

The provisions of the Act were added after approval was obtained from the competent authority, an official said.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has stated that the accused were allegedly operating as active members of an organised crime syndicate.

Investigators believe the attack was not an isolated act but part of a planned criminal conspiracy intended to secure financial gains, assert the gang’s dominance and spread terror in society.

Three assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at Tiger Shroff’s car in the Juhu area on the evening of October 18. The actor escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured.

Anil Pandit, an alleged associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been named as a wanted accused in the case.
