Mahindra To Deepen Its Global Market With New Range SUVs

The four concept SUVs are the Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X, with core attributes of turn-on design - unmissable presence, spirited performance – on-tap power, world-class safety, sci-fi today and tough yet sophisticated.

MUMBAI: Mahindra, the SUV specialist, on Friday showcased its future SUV strategy, showcasing the new NU_IQ platform, and four striking made in India for the world all-new concept SUVs to be launched starting from 2027 to strengthen its dominance in making new tech and feature rich petrol, diesel and pure electric SUVs.

The four concept SUVs are the Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X, with core attributes of turn-on design - unmissable presence, spirited performance – on-tap power, world-class safety, sci-fi today and tough yet sophisticated.

“While the new platform NU_IQ can spawn multiple top hats, they will all be SUVs both for the Indian and international markets,” Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director at Mahindra Group told Financial Chronicle, indicating that the brand does not want to stray from its core offerings and image.

“Our first compact SUV will be launched in 2027 to strengthen our leadership in the SUVs market,” he said without saying if the first SUV would be pure electric, diesel or petrol driven.

Jejuricar said the new platform has been designed with multi-fuel capabilities in mind and will have petrol, diesel, as well as electric powertrains.

He said these bold and striking SUVs will meet international crash tests, emission norms and safety regulations and sell them in South Africa, Australia, the UK and other markets.

The Mumbai-based automaker is looking at a two-pronged strategy for growth in the lucrative and growing SUV market. “We will tap the Indian as well as the international SUV market for growth. But we will launch our new SUVs in a phased and calibrated manner, that is one international market at a time,” Jejuricar explained.

The company already sells its vehicles in South Africa and Australia, creating a new market for the brand. “Our new SUVs will be made in India for the world with more tech and feature rich compact vehicles for the growing younger generation as well as for the old,” Jejuricar said.

The company has committed Rs 27,000 crore investment in the automotive business during the 2025-2027 cycle. It has an installed capacity to produce more than 2,40,000 units annually at its Chakan factory in Pune. It also has plans to scale it up as per the market demand.
