Mumbai:The Maharashtra government on Tuesday approved investment proposals worth Rs 89,731 crore under its industrial promotion policy, with the projects expected to generate nearly 20,000 direct and indirect jobs across Vidarbha, Marathwada, Nashik and other regions.

The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Five proposals related to high-technology sectors — including coal gasification, solar cell modules, electrical steel and synthetic graphite anode material — were presented before the committee. The panel also cleared a proposal to finalise land acquisition rates for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport project near Pune.

Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal and Industries Department Principal Secretary Dr P. Anbalagan attended the meeting, which also approved special incentives for mega and ultra-mega industrial projects.

Under the state’s industrial policy, industries are provided concessions and incentives through the Package Scheme of Incentives.

Officials said the five proposals were linked to new-age and high-technology sectors, including projects related to coal gasification and downstream derivatives, solar cell modules, ingots and wafer panels, electrical steel, PET tyre cord and synthetic graphite anode material manufacturing.

“The projects are aimed at boosting industrial investment, employment generation and the development of a broader industrial ecosystem in Maharashtra,” officials said.

The Chief Minister said the state government had decided to provide special incentives to five mega and ultra-mega projects worth around Rs 89,731 crore to promote industrial investment, employment generation and the development of a modern industrial ecosystem in Maharashtra.

According to officials, Akshat Greentech Private Limited will invest Rs 12,500 crore in a manufacturing facility for solar cells, modules, ingots and wafers in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The project is expected to create employment opportunities for 4,000 people.

NLMK India Coating Pvt. Ltd. will invest Rs 840 crore to establish a grain-oriented electrical steel plant in Aurangabad with a production capacity of 64,000 tonnes per year, generating 153 jobs.

HS Hyosung India Pvt. Ltd. will invest Rs 1,740 crore in Nagpur to set up a tyre cord manufacturing plant expected to employ 400 people.

Graphite India Limited is investing Rs 4,651 crore in a synthetic graphite anode material project for lithium-ion batteries in Nashik, which is expected to create 1,166 jobs.

Adani Enterprises Limited will invest Rs 70,000 crore in an integrated surface coal gasification and downstream derivatives facility in Nagpur. The project is expected to generate employment for 10,000 people.

When contacted, Dr Anbalagan said the projects were in the final stages of implementation. “One of the projects by NLMK India Coating Pvt. Ltd. is already operational, while another project has already acquired land,” he said.

“These projects will be rolled out over the next three to four years. The coal gasification project will be implemented in phases. However, the entire coal gasification project is expected to be completed within the next seven to 10 years,” he added.

Officials also said the land rate for the proposed Chhatrapati Sambhaji Raje International Airport project at Purandar in Pune district had been finalised. Around 3,000 acres of land will be required for the airport and related facilities.
