 Bhopal: The acting principal of a government school in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district has been placed under suspension over the incident of students being served Republic Day feast on waste papers on January 26 last.

A video of the incident had gone viral prompting the local administration to order a probe into it.

The incident took place at the Government High School in Bhatgaon village where students were served feast, comprising ‘puri and halwa’, on the occasion of the Republic Day, on the sheets of papers torn from the notebooks and books.

An order issued by Rewa division commissioner B S Jamod said, “In-charge principal Sushil Kumar Tripathy of Government High School Bhatgaon has been suspended with immediate effect for negligence in organizing a special Republic Day lunch programme at the school”.

Maihar district collector Rani Batad had earlier taken serious note of the incident and ordered a probe into it.

The collector had ordered strict action against those responsible for it.

The incident had triggered public outrage.
