Madhya Pradesh: Mohan Hints At Imminent Ministry Expansion, To Induct New Faces

This would be the third expansion of his ministry, when effected.

“It may be possible that something (expansion of ministry) needs to be done in future. New faces will certainly be inducted (during the proposed expansion)”, Mr. Yadav told the media here.

He however sought to parry a question as to if he plans to drop any member in the ministry, saying that, “I cannot say this now. But it is sure that changes (in the ministry) will take place soon”.

The proposed expansion of his ministry has been in the air for a while, with Mr. Yadav trying to firm up his grip over the state administration as well as the BJP Legislature Party (BJPLP) amid signs of growing unease among some senior leaders in the party and some ministers.

The blatant show of dissent by senior BJP leader and former minister Narottam Mishra after he was denied a party ticket in the recently held by-elections to the Datia Assembly constituency has alarmed the state BJP leadership, a senior BJP functionary told this newspaper on Saturday.

Sources said that Mr. Yadav may follow the lead of the Central party leadership by promoting the next generation leaders in the legislative wing in the upcoming ministry expansion to tighten his hold on the state government.

The timing of his hints about the imminent ministry expansion points to this, sources said.

The first expansion of the Mohan Yadav ministry was affected with induction of 28 ministers, 12 days after the chief minister assumed office on December 13, 2026.

The second ministry expansion had taken place on July eight, 2024 with the induction of Ramnivas Rawat who had joined BJP from Congress before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

He was however dropped from the ministry when he lost the by-elections to the Vijaypur Assembly constituency in November 2024.
