Madhya Pradesh: Land Row Involving CM Yadav, Family: CMO Says No Land Acquisition After He Became Chief Minister
The CMO also refuted the charges of conflict of interest linked to the government infrastructure projects in Ujjain: Reports
BHOPAL: With Opposition Congress insisting on a judicial probe by a sitting judge of the supreme court into the acquisition of the lands by chief minister Mohan Yadav and his family, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has denied charges of acquiring land by him or his family by misusing his official position.
The CMO also refuted the charges of conflict of interest linked to the government infrastructure projects in Ujjain, his home town in Madhya Pradesh, in the acquisition of lands by him and his family before he became the chief minister in December 2023.
The CMO’s denial is a repetition of the statement made earlier this week by state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal that there has been no increase in the agricultural land holdings by him and his family till June 2026 after he became the chief minister.
A statement issued by the CMO said that the total agricultural land owned by him till November 2023, a month before he assumed the office, was 17.967 acres which has remained unchanged till June 2026.
He has already declared his assets including landed property in his affidavit filed during nomination for the November 2023 assembly elections in the state.
His wife Seema Yadav’s landed assets were to the tune of 12.287 acres in November 2023 which has increased marginally to 12.292 acres in June 2026, the CMO statement has said.
The CMO release said that most of these lands were purchased between 2008 and 2019, almost four years before he became chief minister.
Regarding the real estate firm, Siddhi Vinayak Devcon Pvt Ltd, in which he and his wife had major stakes in the form of agricultural lands, the CMO release said that the company was established for agricultural activities in 2008 and the chief minister and his wife had stepped down from its directorship in 2017.
They also relinquished their shares in March 2026.
The CMO said that the company’s landholding declined from 68.43 acres in November 2023 to 65.69 acres in June 2026.
Similarly, the chief minister’s son Vaivav Yadav has agricultural landholdings of 16.38 acres, purchased between 2019 and March 2023, before he became the CM.
The lands were acquired before the implementation of the Ujjain Master Plan- 2035, the statement said.
The chief minister’s daughter-in-law Shalini Yadva purchased ten acres of agricultural lands in 2025 and the patch of land falls outside the Master Plan area and is not part of any developed or commercial zone.
Regarding the lands acquired by his relatives, the CMO said that they are separate entities and run their businesses and financial activities independently.
The CMO also rejected charges that the government projects were influenced to benefit him after he became chief minister, saying that the Ujjain Master Plan- 2035 was implemented in May 2023 whereas he became chief minister in December 2023.
Mr. Yadav was a minister in the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan government between March 2020- November 2023.
Madhya Pradesh unit Congress president Jitu Patwari on Friday reiterated his demand for a judicial probe by a sitting judge of the supreme court into the issue.
