BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh police dismantled a potential ‘testicle trafficking racket’ before it could expand, by solving a mysterious murder.
The brewing bizarre racket involving male private parts had its genesis in an Instagram reel which allegedly suggested that the testicles of a teenager will fetch a price of Rs 1.2 crore in the market, the probe into the case by the police has found.
The shocking plot to kill a 17-year-old boy at an isolated place here to remove his testicles and sell them in the market at an unbelievable price was laid bare after the police arrested two youths and detained three minors in connection with the incident.
A second-year BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) student, Zoheb Khan (20), was allegedly the mastermind in the murder plot, police said.
Zoheb allegedly masqueraded as a doctor to convince three minors, requisitioned to carry out the crime, that the testicles of a boy, aged 15-16, could fetch a price of Rs 1.2 crore in market, according to the police.
His other alleged associate in the crime was Aamir Qureshi (18).
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone-3, Bhopal, Ayush Gupta, four accused including three minors had allegedly carried out the murder, while Zoheb was reportedly guiding them on phone.
The murder plot was unraveled after the decomposed body of the victim, identified as Rehan, was recovered from ‘Chhota Talab’, a water body, near Dhobi Ghat here on August ten.
Police had registered a murder case against unidentified persons.
The body had multiple stabbing injuries.
The police had circulated the slain boy’s photograph in social media and also approached the people in the surrounding localities to identify the body.
Later, the boy’s mother who had filed a missing report earlier identified him from the photo in the police station leading the police to make progress in the investigation.
The police had then started searching for the people who last met the deceased, leading to the arrest of the five accused.
The accused had targeted the boy because of his age and since he hailed from a poor family.
The boy had lost his father and used to support his mother by selling pens and keychains.
According to the police, the boy was approached by the accused two minors on August six seeking his help to scare a youth hostile to them and offered him Rs 100 to do the job.
The two accused had accompanied the unsuspecting boy to the crime spot where other two accused including the other minor joined.
The boy was then stabbed multiple times and attacked with a blade also and later his testicles were removed when he died, according to the police.
His testicles were removed before the body was thrown in the ‘Chhota Talab’.
The body parts of the victim were allegedly preserved for days in a polythene bag by the accused to find buyers and threw them into water when no customer was available, police said.
“We are investigating if any reel claiming to fetch a price for testicles really existed”, a police officer said.
