BHOPAL: Mounting pressure on the state government to disclose the landed properties of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his family members, the Congress on Wednesday sought an official White Paper detailing their assets.
A day after exposing the purported assets of the Chief Minister and his family in Ujjain before the media here, state Congress president Jitu Patwari said there had been no explanation for 30 hours.
Barring a “brief statement” from state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal — “who merely called my disclosure baseless” — no concrete explanation came from the Chief Minister or his office, Patwari said.
Reiterating his demand for a judicial probe by a Supreme Court judge, Patwari pressed for a White Paper from the government detailing landed properties acquired by Yadav and his family members, and during which period.
Khandelwal meanwhile issued a recorded statement dismissing the Congress charges as “baseless and politically motivated,” saying they were aimed at tarnishing the Chief Minister’s image. “After Yadav became Chief Minister in December 2023, no land has been added to his and his family members’ assets,” he said.
Regarding properties of Yadav’s relatives, the BJP leader said they are separate entities and have nothing to do with the Chief Minister. He added that Yadav owned 17 acres before becoming CM and no land has been added since. His wife Seema Yadav owned 12.9 acres, unchanged after he took charge.
The Chief Minister’s son and daughter-in-law also have not added to their holdings of 16 acres and 10 acres respectively, Khandelwal said.
The Congress has pointed out that Yadav was chairman of the Ujjain Development Authority (UDA) before becoming a minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan ministry in 2018.
