Kunal Under Attack Again; MLA Blames BJP For Bid To Kill Him
A gang of armed miscreants, travelling on motorcycles, started shadowing him on the way: Mr Ghosh
KOLKATA: Beleghata MLA Kunal Ghosh, who belongs to Mamata All India Trinamool Congress, came under attack for the second time within a day, this time in his own constituency. On Sunday, he was supposed to attend an event at ward no 36 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
Mr Ghosh alleged that as soon as he left his residence in his car in the morning, a gang of armed miscreants, travelling on motorcycles, started shadowing him on the way. They later overtook and surrounded his car in Narkeldanga and smashed its windows with stones and hammers in a filmi style.
The MLA also claimed that some of the attackers threatened him with a gun during the attack, prompting his security personnel to take out their revolvers also to deter them. Mr Ghosh later lodged a complaint at the Narkeldanga police station and blamed BJP for the broad daylight attack.
He argued, “The BJP wants to kill me. I may die anyday.” Union minister Sukanta Majumdar however called the attack an outcome of faction feud between two TMC camps. Mr Ghosh had faced a similar attack at Uttarpara in Hooghly on Saturday while traveling to his party chief Mamata Banerjee's rally in Shreerampore.
