Kabir Gets Police Summons, 3 Aides Held
They can not ignore the instructions of the CM.
Kolkata: A day after West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari's warned Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP) founder Humayun Kabir in the Assembly of arrest for his recent provocative speech during a rally in Murshidabad, the police knocked the door of the controversial Nowda MLA and served him two summons for questioning on separate dates this week after arresting his three party workers in the district.
On Tuesday, a team of cops visited Mr Kabir's residence at Shaktipur and served the two summons which directed him to appear at Shaktipur police station on July 3 and Rejinagar police station on July 5. The twin summons are related to the two cases initiated at the two police stations against the AJUP chief and others. Mr Kabir however said, “Police will perform its duty. They can not ignore the instructions of the CM.”
The police tightened the noose around him after arresting three AJUP workers from Shaktipur and Rejinagar on Monday night for organizing the rally where he made the provocative comments. The three accused are Golam Mostafa, Mohammad Aminul Haque and Anisur Rahman. While Golam is AJUP Kashipur Area II president, Anisur is AJUP Beldanga Block II convenor.
