IndiGo Launches Daily Kolkata-Guangzhou Flights
India’s leading airline resumes direct air links with Mainland China, boosting trade and tourism
IndiGo, India’s airline firm, has launched daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, marking the first direct air link by an Indian carrier between India and Mainland China since the pandemic. Operated on IndiGo’s A320 aircraft, these flights promise a seamless and comfortable travel experience, catering to the rising demand for passenger and cargo connectivity between the two nations.
Guangzhou, a bustling global business hub in southern China renowned for manufacturing and export logistics, is a key destination for trade and commerce. The reinstatement of this route opens new avenues for Indian businesses, exporters, and travelers while fostering opportunities for Chinese tourists and investors to explore India’s vibrant culture and expanding markets. Further strengthening this corridor, IndiGo will also commence flights between Delhi and Guangzhou starting 10 November 2025.
“We are thrilled to be the first Indian carrier to resume daily non-stop flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou, re-establishing a vital link between India and China,” said Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer at IndiGo. “This strategic move will bolster bilateral ties, support MSMEs, and enhance tourism, education, and healthcare exchanges. It aligns with our mission of giving wings to the nation and connecting the world.”
