New Delhi:An IndiGo flight from Patna to Lucknow was struck by lightning while flying at an altitude of around 17,000 feet on Wednesday, damaging the aircraft’s nose but leaving all passengers and crew members safe. The aircraft, operating flight 6E925, was carrying 104 passengers and six crew members when it encountered the lightning strike while approaching Lucknow amid bad weather. Despite the damage to the front portion of the aircraft, the pilots brought the plane down safely at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow. No injuries were reported.

The aircraft was subsequently grounded for technical inspection and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation was informed of the incident. It is expected to return to service only after the necessary safety checks and clearance.

The incident occurred amid unsettled weather in the region, with thunderstorms and lightning forecast over parts of Bihar through October 9.
