In a 22-minute address to the nation on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that India has paused its counter-terror operations but warned that further action will depend on Pakistan’s conduct in the coming days. “In the coming days, we will observe Pakistan’s behaviour and decide our actions on the basis of that,” he said, asserting that all branches of the Indian military and security forces remain on high alert. “India won’t tolerate any nuclear blackmail.”
Opening his remarks, Modi said, “I would like to salute our forces, intel agencies, scientists,” crediting them for the success of Operation Sindoor, under which India struck nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “We have proven ourselves in new age warfare,” he added.
The Prime Minister said the operation not only destroyed infrastructure but also shattered the morale of terrorist groups. “We not only destroyed terrorist infrastructure, but also broke their morale,” he said. “Every terrorist and every terror group has learnt what the repercussions of wiping sindoor off our daughters will be.”
He reiterated India's position on talks with Pakistan, stating, “Terror and talks won’t happen together. Terror and trade won’t happen together. Water and blood won’t flow together.”
Modi said the era of terrorism must end. “This is not an era of war, but this era is not of terrorism as well,” he said, warning Islamabad that “if Pakistan wants to save itself, it has to stop its terror infrastructure.”
On Pakistan’s military complicity, Modi noted, “We will not see the difference between the terrorist and the Pakistani establishment,” referring to the presence of Pakistani military officials at funerals of terrorists.
He concluded his speech by dedicating the bravery of India’s armed forces to the country’s mothers, sisters, and daughters. “Operation Sindoor is not just a name, it is a pledge for justice,” he said.
