Hyderabad: Meerpet Police saved the life of a man who attempted to end his life on Monday. The victim identified as Ellapally Jagan, 45, a resident of Badangpet, made a distress call to emergency services, informing them of his intention.

Police swiftly responded to the situation. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, sub-inspector Surya Narayana said, “We got a call at 1 am. Despite attempting to reach Jagan by phone, he did not respond. We searched the streets of Badangpet seeking information from locals to track down Jagan’s whereabouts and simultaneously alerted fellow officers in the area to assist in the search. Finally, through his WhatsApp profile, someone recognised Jagan and guided us to reach his home.”

Upon arrival, police found Jagan in an unconscious state. They performed CPR on him and revived him. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital.

“After separated from his wife, Jagan lives with his mother in Badangpet. They parted ways with each other due to financial disagreements. His wife lives separately with their son. Recently, Jagan had suffered financial losses in his business adding to his distress," the SI said.

Jagan’s health is said to be stable and the family members thanked police for timely intervention.
