Beed: Displaying extraordinary determination for her daughter's bright future, 47-year-old Ramabai Ranveer from Ambajogai in Beed district of Maharashtra ran barefoot clad in a traditional saree to bag the top spot in a local marathon.
The event, titled the "Amrut Daud," was organized to mark the Amrut Mahotsav (75th anniversary) of the Kholeshwar Educational Complex under the Bharatiya Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha. Arriving at the venue in a simple saree and slippers, Ramabai entered as a regular participant. The race, which stretched from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk to Bhagyanagar Chowk, saw her outpace much younger competitors equipped in running shoes and tracksuits.
Overcoming physical obstacles like rough road stones and managing her saree mid-run, Ramabai demonstrated remarkable physical endurance and mental strength. She revealed that her drive to race came entirely from her resolve to pay her daughter's school fees.
Ramabai stated that the ₹3,000 cash prize she won will go directly toward her daughter's education, underscoring the vital importance of schooling. Her inspiring victory has not only sparked widespread awareness around girls' education in Ambajogai, but has also become a beacon of inspiration for parents fighting against all odds for their children's future.
