Crimes against SC, STs decrease in Kadapa

Anantapur: In 2023, the Kadapa police have made commendable strides in reducing crime and enhancing public safety, compared to 2022. Our focussed efforts have led to a 22 per cent reduction in SC-ST (POA) cases, a significant 29% decrease in bodily offences and an impressive 30 per cent reduction in road accidents. Additionally, property offences and crimes against women also saw noteworthy declines, Kadapa SP Siddharth Kausel told media on Saturday.

The SP said police conducted community awareness programmes to educate citizens about the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, increased surveillance in areas historically vulnerable to caste-based violence.

Police also implemented special sensitization drives for police personnel to better handle SC-ST cases, established dedicated help desks in police stations to assist victims, the district police chief said.

Road accidents cases saw a 30 per cent reduction. Police initiated road safety awareness campaigns, strictly enforced traffic rules with a focus on high-accident zones, the SP said.
