President Murmu receives a memento with DC cartoonist Shaik Subhani\'s artwork

HYDERABAD: Deccan Chronicle’s cartoonist Shaik Subhani’s artwork of the Ramappa temple, a UN world heritage site, has now found a place in Rashtrapati Bhavan history with a memento featuring his sketch of the temple presented to President Droupadi Murmu during her December 28 visit to the temple.

 The artwork, etched onto a silver platter, was presented to the President when she visited the temple in Mulugu district. During her visit, the President had also laid foundation stones for infrastructure development around the temple under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Augmentation Drive (Prasad) scheme. 

Subhani, known for decades for his cartoons in DC, and his artwork and sketches, and has won several international and national awards. His artwork has featured fairly regularly on mementos as was the case when Osmania University celebrated its centenary: Subhani’s work depicting the Arts College was used on the mementos.

There is also a series of his works on display at the MCR HRD Institute in the city where a ‘Heritage Wall’ has on display a series of his works reflecting Telangana and the culture of the state.
