Hyderabad: Thirty-eight German nationals (19 women, 17 men and two infants) were evacuated from Hyderabad by a special flight operated by Air-India on Tuesday.

The special flight took off from Chennai this morning after picking up German nationals stranded there. From Hyderabad, it flew to Mumbai to collect more passengers to ultimately fly them to Frankfurt.

The passengers were made to pass through a fully-sanitised interim international departures terminal (IIDT), which was prepared for evacuation measures such as these. Special screening and other safety measures were put in place, including thermal screening and mandatory social distancing via special queuing arrangements.
