Wild gaur attacks, kills man in Coonoor

Coonoor: A wild gaur attacked and killed a farmer at Thuthurmattam area nearhere on Monday, as man-gaur conflicts emerged again inrural Coonoor limits.

While there were similar conflicts in the Coonoor belt in the second half of 2016, the guar menace has resurfaced again now after a brief lull in the hills.

Forest department sources said that one Murugaiyan (45), a farmer residing at Thuthurmattam village, was working in his farmland on Monday morning as usual.
