Thiruvananthapuram: BJP minority morcha general secretary Aisha Sherin, 30,  belonging to Mudavanmughal here, threatened to commit suicide on Monday over the alleged harassment meted out to her by her  neighbour and his two sons, one of whom is a DYFI leader.   She  forwarded her  WhatsApp and voice messages to the BJP leaders  alleging that the  local CPM leaders had  been harassing her and  tried to outrage her modesty on public roads.

However, the BJP leaders rushed to her house and prevented any drastic action by her.   The  Poojappura police told DC that she had a long-standing dispute with her neighbour,  Thampi and his sons.    The woman was supposed to attend a protest programme organised by the BJP’s Marxist Akrama Virudha Samithi in front of the secretariat on Monday. However, she didn’t go there, but instead sent the message.    State BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan visited her and  offered all help to her in fighting the perpetrators.

“There were three cases under  IPC 354 charged against  Thampi and  his sons who had previously attacked her and tried to outrage her modesty.   Thampi and his sons were  locked up several times.  Recently one son, a DYFI  leader, was arrested.  The court gave him bail  as he is a heart patient,”  said a police official. No case was charged against  Aisha Sherin as she didn’t try to commit suicide. She had  joined the BJP from the CPM prior to the Assembly elections and her plight was raised before Governor P. Sathasivam by BJP national general secretary P. Muralidhar Rao who was here last week.
