Thanjavur: Chided girl student drinks acid in lab

THANJAVUR: In a very unfortunate development, a girl student of the Government arts college (Autonomous) at Kumbakonam, Kausalya (23), daughter of  Anbalagan consumed acid, following alleged scolding by a professor using her caste name on Wednesday.

According to the police, Ravichandran, professor of Zoology department, chided Ms. Kausalya an M. Phil student of the department, using her caste name.

Unable to take it, the girl consumed acid in the laboratory. Her classmates and other students admitted her to the Government hospital at Kumba-konam.
