Telangana Express catches fire on way to Delhi
The passengers were detrained and the crew detached three coaches which had caught fire.
Hyderabad: A minor fire broke out on the Hyderabad-New Delhi Telangana Express about two hours short of the destination on Thursday morning. No one was injured in the incident. The fire broke out between the pantry car and the adjacent AC 3-tier coach near Ballabgarh on the Palwal-Hazrat Nizamuddin section of the Northern Railways.
According to a railway official, the onboard housekeeping staff and a gateman on duty outside noticed smoke and fire emanating between the pantry car and AC coach, B-1 while the train was passing Asaoti, about 70 km from Delhi.
The driver was alerted and he brought the train to a stop. The passengers were detrained and the crew detached three coaches which had caught fire.
The staff used the onboard fire extinguishers to battle the fire, while the fire brigade rushed in and doused it completely. All passengers were safe, and were accommodated on other coaches till Delhi.
