Visually challenged boy booked for lockdown violation

Kurnool: A 17 year old boy, blind in both eyes, went with his brother to a xerox center to take photo copies. As Naga Muneppa was standing there, a police patrol came and picked up the brothers for violating the lockdown norms. Along with the boy, six others were taken to the police station, but a case was filed only against him.

In an appeal to the tahasildar on Friday, the visually challenged boy requested him to scrap the case filed against him as it would come in the way of securing a job in future.

Gonegandla sub-inspector Hanumantha Reddy said as Covid positive cases were spreading in the town, "we implemented lockdown measures strictly. we can't discriminate between blind and nonblind people when we pick them up. But upon knowing his disability, we told them Section 188 of IPC is a compoundable case and can be discharged upon payment of a nominal fine."

But there was no answer as to why at all the xerox shop was functioning when lockdown was so strictly implemented.
