Chennai: College students arrested with knives on train

The arrested were identified as N. Kaviyarasu, Maruthupandian and Soma Sundaram, all students of Pachayappa's college.

Chennai: Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday detained 3 college students for creating ruckus in a running train with knives.

The arrested were identified as N. Kaviyarasu, Maruthupandian and Soma Sundaram, all students of Pachayappa's college. "The passengers waiting on the platform at MMC railway station had heard a ruckus noises inside a running train at 2.35 pm on Thursday. The RPF personnel at MMC alerted police in Basin Bridge station," the sources said.

The sources also added that when the RPF police boarded the third compartment where students created nuisances, one of the students threw out his bag. "We retrieved the bag and checked.

The bag contained 4 dangerous knives and crackers. All the three students have been detained and handed over to Government Railway Police for further action.
