Hyderabad: Labourer falls in sump, dies

Police said that Mohan Thakur was staying at Nandinagar in Banjara Hills.

Hyderabad: A 21-year-old daily labourer died after he accidentally fell into an underground sump in Pahadishareef. Mohan Thakur, who belongs to UP, had gone to the sump to fetch some water. Police said that Mohan Thakur was staying at Nandinagar in Banjara Hills. On Saturday morning, he and his friend Mastan came to an under construction farmhouse in Mamidipally village as they had been hired for laying floor tiles there.

In the evening, while work was going on Mohan went to an underground sump in the compound to fetch water for work. But when he did not return even after a long time Mastan went looking for him. When he came to the sump he saw Mohan's footwear and informed the farmhouse owner. Later, they found that Mohan had drowned in the sump and informed the police. A case of suspicious death was registered as per Mastan’s complaint. The body was handed over to Mohan’s relatives after post-mortem.
