KCR to unveil Gandhi statue

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will unveil a 16-feet statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhi Hospital premises at Secunderabad to commemorate the Father of the Nation on his birthday on October 2.

The event is scheduled for 10 am, and Rao will also address a public meeting.
On Wednesday, ministers T. Harish Rao and Talasani Srinivas Yadav reviewed the arrangements for the unveiling  of the statue, along with officials and representatives from respective departments at the hospital.

The ministers said there was increased interest in Mahatma Gandhi after the government screened the Richard Attenborough film ‘Gandhi’ during the Independence Day celebratins for lakhs of students. He said world leaders like the peace icon Nelson Mandela of South Africa emulated Gandhi by following the path of non-violence.

The ministers congratulate the doctors and staff of the Gandhi Hospital for their work during the Covid pandemic.
