Visakhapatnam: The Vizag city police on Sunday registered a case against a 21-year-old married woman, Sai Priya, and her boyfriend Ravi Teja for misleading the police and government agencies.

Sai Priya had gone missing from the beach in the evening on July 25 while her husband who had accompanied her was busy seeing the messages on his mobile phone.

Based on a suspicion that she might have been swept away by the waves, the police, the Navy and the Coast Guard did a search in the Bay of Bengal. Television visuals of the incident drew the attention of the entire state.

Later, the police came to know Sai Priya had eloped with her long-time lover Ravi Teja to Bengaluru. The Coast Guard requested the Vizag police to take stringent action against those involved in the incident, as this had  resulted in the wasting of valuable official resources.

The three town police with permission from court registered a case against Sai Priya and Ravi Teja under sections 429, 417, 494, 202 r/w 34 of IPC on Sunday.
