Chennithala alleged that the CPM leaders were encroaching on KSEB and PWD land in Munnar.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged the CPM's role in the rampant encroachments and illegal constructions in  Munnar and demanded a special law for the high range. The Opposition will stage a dharna in Munnar on April 4 in protest against the encroachments  and a UDF delegation would also call on  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan demanding urgent remedial steps, Mr. Chennithala told reporters.

Denying the allegations of encroachments and illegal constructions in the high range during the previous UDF government’s  tenure,  he  maintained that some constructions had taken place with court orders. He alleged that the CPM leaders were encroaching on KSEB and PWD land in Munnar. The deed  possessed by CPM MLA S. Rajendran would be fake. If any Congress leaders were involved in the encroachments, action should be taken against them, he said.

Mr Chennithala also alleged that the Munnar mission initiated by  former chief minister V.S. Achuthanandan was a flop as it ended up in granting  compensations for the demolished buildings. It was the CPM which torpedoed the Munnar mission, he said. He added that the allegations raised by Mr Achuthanandan against him were actually targeted at Mr  Pinarayi Vijayan.
