Hyderabad: The state government owes members of the Telangana Super speciality Hospitals Association more than Rs 100 crore which is pending with the government of Telangana for more than a year of Telangana Superspeciality Hospitals Association as reimbursement of medical expenses under the Employee Health Scheme and Journalist Health Scheme.
The hospitals which started treating the patients from December 2017 have not been paid for the full one-year and they had recently served a notice stating that they will stop treating the patients if payments are not cleared.
The 12 super speciality hospitals had a separate and a special agreement with the Aarogyasri department where they were to be paid for both surgical and medical management of patients. This payment was 20 per cent more than those paid to regular empanelled hospitals due to the high-end treatment protocols.
The government officials, Aarogyasri chief executive officer and health minister Dr Laxma Reddy had agreed to these points and signed the memorandum of understanding.
The Telangana Employees Association wanted the super speciality hospitals to be a part of the scheme and they were adamant that they must take government patients as the latest medical diagnosis and also treatment facilities are available in these hospitals.
