Eluru police issue 2,149 e-challans against traffic violators

Kakinada: Eluru district police issued 2,149 e-challans in the past three days against traffic violators.

Disclosing details, superintendent of police Rahul Dev Sarma said 1,294 cases were booked against riders for not wearing a helmet, 324 cases for driving without licence, three cases for no insurance, 46 cases against people travelling with more than two pillion riders on two-wheelers and 170 drunk driving cases. 81 cases were booked for liquor consumption in public places. Sarma said vehicle drivers should have all requisite licences and certificates and should wear helmets without fail for their safety.
