No VIP darshan at popular shrine from Sunday

NELLORE:  Nellore rural legislator Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy said he would also go for the darshan of goddess in popular Sri Rajarajeswari temple at Nellore through general queue in a bid to put an end to the VIP culture in the temple.

Addressing the media here on Wednesday, the legislator said the VIP pass system would be done away from coming Sunday in view of the ensuing Moola Nakshthram, Durgastami, Maharnavami and Vijaya Dasami festivals.

Darshan will be allowed through free darshan queue lines apart from Rs 30 and Rs 100 queue lines.

All VIPs should go through these queue lines and they should park their vehicles on the premises of neighbouring Government General Hospital and not in front of the temple, Sridhar Reddy said.

“I will also go into the temple through queue lines keeping the protocol aside. I have noticed that devotees are happy with the arrangements we made for the darshan,” Sridhar Reddy claimed.

Festival committee chairman Alahari Vijaykumar and YSRC leader and Sri Rajarajeswari Seva Samiti head Sannapareddy Penchal Reddy were present.

Meanwhile, Sridhar Reddy laid foundation stone for a 33/11KV substation being established at an estimated cost of Rs 2.1 crore at Kodurupadu in Nellore rural mandal. Mayor P. Sravanthi and YSRC general-secretary K. Giridhar Reddy were also present.
