Tirupati: In the wake of recent incidents of online Arjitha seva tickets scam, that has shaken up the Vigilance and Security wing of the TTD, the management has finally decided to tighten the verification of tickets that are issued in both discretionary and online quota.

As part of this, under the instructions of TTD JEO K.S. Srinivasa Raju, a team of 100 TTD Vigilance sleuths led by the CVSO in-charge T. Venkata Siva Kumar Reddy, verified the Aadhaar IDs and VIP break darshan tickets, in Vaikuntam queue complex on Thursday.

They questioned the pilgrims, who were issued tickets under the discretionary quota that are recommended by the political and government fraternity. It was learnt from the sources that  several touts and unofficial PROs of various political fraternities, who were found to be indulging in any malpractice, were taken and questioned by the Vigilance wing.

According to the sources, a PRO, working under a local ruling party MLA was found to have obtained 15 list -2 break tickets on Thursday and sold them to the pilgrims at a hefty price of Rs 75,000. Though it was not confirmed by the Vigilance wing, the news has become viral among the local people soon after the sleuths questioned him.

K.S. Srinivasa Raju said: “In the recent times, some middlemen misused the online lucky dip system. To curb such miscreants, Vigilance verification has been instigated and all the VIP break darshan tickets have also been verified”. The pilgrims also co-operated with the TTD during the verification process”.

He said that the online dip system, introduced by the TTD is a very good, transparent and perfect scheme. “But some touts misused the system, encashing upon the weakness of some of the pilgrims who wished to have the Lord’s darshan. I sincerely appeal to all the pilgrims not to fall prey to such miscreants,” he said.
