ANANTAPUR: The Clock Tower Bridge connecting the two national highways passing through Anantapur city is scheduled to be inaugurated on Monday.

The Clock Tower Bridge and two other bridges have been completed within a record time of two years and five months. Clock Tower Bridge will bring major relief to the people of Anantapur, as they had been facing problems due to the traffic being diverted for more than two years.

According to officials, though the Clock Tower Bridge will be inaugurated on Monday, vehicles will be permitted over it only from Wednesday, May 31.
Two highways pass through the 9.2-km stretch of Anantapur city. ₹310 crores had been sanctioned in December 2021 to widen the road from two to four lanes. The National Highway wing of the Road and Buildings department took up the project on a war footing and completed the project before schedule.

Connectivity has been provided between NH 44 at Bellary Bypass and Chennai Highway at Pangal Road on the outskirts of Anantapur. The 9.2-km road passes through Collectorate, Suryanagar Road, Subhash Road and Clock Tower towards Bellary Bypass Road.

Apart from the Clock Tower Bridge, two wider bridges have been constructed across Pandameru.

However, work at the main Sapthagiri Circle has remained incomplete due to legal hurdles.
