Five arrested for lynching ex-convict at Pariyaram

A special team headed by Mr K.E. Premachandran said that it was revenge murder.

Kannur: The police  arrested five persons in connection with the lynching of a youth at Pariyaram near Kannur on Tuesday night. The body of the youth, Mottantakathu Abdul Khader, 38, an ex-convict, was found with marks of beating  on Wednesday morning. Those arrested are Keloth Shihabudheen, 27, C.T. Muhas, 21, M. Abdulla, 25, K.C. Noushad, 24, and P.V. Siraj, 28, all natives of Vayad.  A special team headed by Mr K.E. Premachandran said that it was revenge murder. One of the accused Shihabudheen had returned from Qatar recently.  The shop of his father was earlier destroyed by Abdul Khader.

The bike of Noushad also was set ablaze by him.   The hands of the youth were found tied up and the body with only underwear was left with over  40 marks of lynching. The locals who found the body  informed the police. A criminal with many cases charged against him, Abdul Khader was jailed for a theft and released two months back. He  was kidnapped by the accused in a car from his home at Punnakkulangara   in the wee hours of Wednesday, according to police. The car  was seized by the police. The five were produced at the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Payyannur, on Friday, and were  remanded in judicial custody.
