KOZHIKODE: Mr Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar,  general secretary of the Association of Muslim Scholars of India, has asked the central government to appoint a commission to re-examine the cases where UAPA was imposed on innocent citizens  under the guise of national security. Delivering the keynote address at the international Milad conference held by Jamia Markaz  at Swapna Nagari here on Sunday,  he lashed out at the UAPA saying, “in recent times,  there has been a growing trend among the rulers to  discriminate between  citizens and unleash assaults  on them.  The government should end this injustice,” he said.

He added that freedom of religion  is one of the cornerstones of the Constitution of India. Any attempt to curb this freedom should be fought by all means, he said.
A host of Muslim scholars representing different countries and international associations attended the conference. Sayed Ali Bafaqi Thangal led the prayer. Jamia Markaz general manager C. Muhammed Faizy welcomed the gathering.
