A video clip released by Rahul Easwar on Thursday has Hadiya saying she wanted to escape from home as soon as possible.

Kochi: Social commentator Rahul Easwar, who visited Hadiya whose conversion to Islam and subsequent marriage are under the consideration of the Supreme Court, on Thursday released a video in which the woman said she was under the fear of being bumped off. The girl is seen saying in the video, which Mr Easwar shot when he visited her at her father K.M. Ashokan’s home in Vaikom on August 17, that she is being physically tortured.  “I want to escape from this place. I may be killed within two or three days. My father is angry with me and he is trying to attack me.” Mr Easwar also quoted Hadiya as telling him that she would not have landed in the preset trouble had she not got married.

Mr Eashwar demanded that she be shifted to a place of safety.  “I am planning to implead in the case in the Supreme Court,” he said, adding that he has not yet released the video in full. The Kerala High Court had on May 24 this year annulled her marriage with Shefin Jahan, a worker of the Social Democratic Party of India after finding that the marriage had no legal validity and gave custody of the woman to her father.

Mr Eashwar had earlier released a part of the video which had seen her questioning her being kept as hostage.  The Supreme Court, which is hearing a petition filed by Mr Jahan seeking a stay on the high court order and her release, has expressed its doubt about the decision of the High Court.  The case is coming up for hearing before a bench, headed by the chief justice, on October 30.
