Mysuru: Dasara pachyderms given traditional welcome

Dasara will be celebrated in a special manner this year, says Dr HC Mahadevappa.

Mysuru: The prime attraction of the Vijayadashami procession, the mighty, caparisoned pachyderms, were offered a traditional welcome at the courtyard of Mysuru Palace at the Jayamarthanda gate  on Friday.

The first batch of six Dasara pachyderms, Arjuna, Balarama, Abhimanyu, Gajendra, Cauvery and Vijaya, were brought in a procession from Aranyabhavan and were welcomed by Cooperation Minister H.S. Mahadevprasad in the absence of district in-charge minister Dr H.C. Mahadevappa.

He told reporters that Dasara will be celebrated in a special manner this year.
