Thrissur: CPM veteran V.S. Achuthanandan on  Tuesday challenged Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to sue him over his charges  against him and said that he was ready to face the consequences. “I have been involved in several legal battles against some well-known individuals and you all know it very well,” VS  said launching the  campaign website of V.S. Sunilkumar,  LDF candidate in  Thrissur segment,  on Tuesday evening.

He  said that Mr Chandy was threatening to sue him for speaking against  corruption.  “Chandy is free to file as many  cases as he wishes,” he said.
“Solar scam-accused Saritha Nair came up with allegations even against the CM which I could not speak in public. She also mentioned the names of several ministers of Chandy’s cabinet. But why there were no cases filed against Saritha?” VS asked.

While speaking at an election campaign for CPM politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan recently at Dharmadom in Kannur, VS had alleged that Mr Chandy was facing 31 criminal cases and that there were 138 corruption cases pending against his cabinet colleagues. Later, Mr Chandy  asked VS to apologise publicly or face legal action over his remarks.

He also said  the BJP  which promised to bring  back the  black money stashed away in the tax heavens in foreign countries before coming to power was keeping mum  even after  reports that there were black money hoarders among those close to the BJP as well.
