LDF embarks on clean-up drive

Dr Isaac said that if the LDF is voted to power, all cities in the state would be cleaned in a year.

ALAPPUZHA: The LDF  kicked off its election campaign in unique way by organizing  clean-up programmes in 15 different parts of the constituency on Saturday.

Alappuzha candidate Dr T.M. Thomas Isaac,  who inaugurated  the  drive at Kommadi, near the town, arrived in the  market at 7 a.m. along with the workers and cleaned drains and  floors in the area . The dilapidated portions of old market floors and concrete slabs were plastered with cement mortar in an hour-long drive.

Dr Isaac said that if the LDF is voted to power, all cities in the state would be cleaned in a year. ‘The LDF will extend such drives to rural areas,” he said. The  ‘Clean City, Clean Home’ campaign introduced by Dr Isaac in the Alappuzha municipality was tried in Thiruvananthapuram  corporation earlier.

The areas where the programmes were held included  district court jn, Kanichukulangara, Mararikulam, Thampakachuvadu, Komalapuram, Kalavoor, Valavanad,  Pathirapally, Ashramam, Unnamed and Chathanad.  CPM district secretary Saji Cneriyan inaugurated the drive at district court junction.
