Two electric buses of APSRTC burnt in battery fire

Hyderabad: Two APSRTC e-buses were reduced to ashes in a fire that broke out when a battery was being repaired at Gumpula in Suryapet district. There were no casualties.

A Vennala service bus, an electric vehicle, was carrying passengers from Hyderabad to Vijayawada when its headlines went off at Gumpula village. The driver stopped the bus and secured an another bus in which he passengers were accommodated.

Another APSRTC e-bus was brought was brought to Gumpula to repair the first one. When this was on, the battery of the first bus burst into flames which spread to the another vehicle.

The fire service department staff sent a fire tender which doused the flames. Official suspect that a short circuit inside the bus might have caused the mishap.
