Minimum temperature falls in Hyderabad, likely to stay in the range of 13-17C

Hyderabad: The minimum temperature dropped considerably in the city on Friday after a warm week and the chill will continue for two days owing to the south and southeasterly winds, the MET department said.

The BHEL area in Ramachandrapuram recorded a minimum temperature of 11.6ºC Celsius on Friday. The coldest spot in the state was Sirpur in Komaram Bheem district that recorded 9.6ºC, followed by Bazaar Hathnoor in Adilabad at 9.7ºC and Tallapally in Ranga Reddy district at 9.8ºC.

As per the IMD, dry weather is very likely to prevail over the state with a drop in minimum temperatures. The IMD issued an alert with the mercury most likely to fall to 13-17ºC over the next two days.

In the city Yousufguda, Malakpet, Goshamahal, Amberpet, Mehdipatnam, Khairatabad and parts of Secunderabad were expected to see the minimum temperature in the range of 14º-16ºC.

A report from Visakhapatnam said a low pressure area had formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal. It was very likely to move gradually west-northwest and become a well-marked low pressure area during the next two days.

Thereafter, it would continue to move west northwest, intensify into a depression around January 31 and reach near the Sri Lanka coast around February 1.

The city will have partly cloudy sky and the morning will very likely remain hazy or misty. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 31ºC and 18’ respectively with easterlysoutheasterly surface winds with a speed of around 6-10 kmph.
