CM, Governor express grief over death of Telugu actor Jamuna

VIJAYAWADA: Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy were among those who expressed grief over the demise of Telugu film actor of yesteryears and former MP, J. Jamuna, on Friday.  

The actor passed away at age 86 at her house in Hyderabad in the early hours of the day.

Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed profound grief and said in an acting career spanning over 70 years, Jamuna immortalised several leading roles she played in hit Telugu films like Missamma, Gundamma Katha and Donga Ramudu and Mooga Manasulu.

The Chief Minister said her death would bring to an end the presence among us of the golden era artistes of Telugu cinema. He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.

Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu noted that Jamuna had gained popularity as the Satyabhama of the silver screen.

Expressing grief over the death of Jamuna, BJP state president Somu Veerraju said she made an indelible mark in the hearts of her fans through her performance.

Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan said Jamuna would be remembered as Satyabhama of the Telugu cinema for long.
