Worker dies in accident at my home site

A 28-year-old woman died due to alleged medical negligence during a tubectomy at a private hospital in Kalapathar, wherein the surgeon mistakenly cut the small intestine instead of the fallopian tube, leading to her death. (Representational image)

HYDERABAD: A migrant worker from Madhya Pradesh, Arvind Singh, 32, died and two others received injuries in a mishap at My Home cement factory located at Mellacheruvu in Suryapet district on Tuesday evening. The injured are identified as Raja Singh and Hassan Jamal, belonging to West Bengal. It was alleged that a lack of safety measures at the work site led to the incident.

According to the police, a blockage was noticed in the pipe that carried concrete from the mixer on the ground floor to the fifth floor, where slab laying works were going on. The three workers were sent to clear the blockage. When they tried to clear the pipe on the fourth floor, concrete gushed out at high pressure and threw the three workers on the elevator. The structure collapsed and landed on the ground floor at great speed.

Mellacheruvu sub-inspector P. Suresh Yadav said the site in charge and the contractor were booked. Further investigation is in process, he told media persons.
