Hyderabad girl ends life over failed IIIT bid

 Hyderabad: Upset over not able to get admission in a IIIT, A 16-year-old girl who had attempted suicide at Jubilee Hills on July 18 succumbed while undergoing treatment in the early hours of Monday. Her family members donated her organs. Police said that she had been unable to get admission in an IIIT.

Police said the victim’s family belonged to Warangal and were residing at Yousufguda. After she completed SSC, her father admitted her to a college in Warangal for Intermediate. She refused to study there and requested her parents to admit her in a college in Hyderabad. She was also upset that she could not get admission in the IIIT. After her attempt on July 18, she was treated at a private hospital and shifted to the Nizam’s Institute for Medical Sciences here for better treatment where she breathed her last.

After she was declared dead, the Jeevandan trust, the organ transplant agency, approached the family and counselled them. The family donated her kidneys, liver, lungs and corneas.
