Karimnagar: Welcoming the Congress government’s call for applications from people to implement ‘six guarantees’ of the party, BJP national general secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar asked when would the government issue new ration cards to the people.

Addressing the media here on Monday, the Karimnagar MP said the previous BRS government had not issued even a single ration card in the past 10 years of its rule. “More than 10 lakh applications are pending in the state. This apart, around a lakh more people require new ration cards.”

He said that since the Lok Sabha elections were approaching, the state government must take immediate steps for issuing new ration cards.

“The BRS party made false promises and betrayed the people of Telangana. Hence, the people had rejected it in the last polls. The Congress party must involve all the political parties and public representatives in identifying the beneficiaries of the government’s welfare schemes,” he suggested.

The BJP leader said, “Even after facing a massive debacle in the assembly elections, the arrogant attitude of KT Rama Rao has not changed. KTR thinks he’s still in power. By exchanging the letters, the Congress and the BRS are releasing the documents in the forms of Swetha Pathram and Swedha Pathram.”

“The BRS leaders claim they created a wealth of Rs 50 lakh crore for Telangana. Then, why did its government  leave behind a debt of Rs 6.75 lakh crore for the state? Why did it sell government lands, why did it not sanction more salaries to the government employees?“K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family members might have earned lakhs of crores and they might have invested these in foreign countries,” he said.

Bandi Sanjay said that, as promised, the Congress government must implement its six guarantees within 100 days of formation of the government. The government must explain how it would clear the debts left behind by the BRS government? Where would it mop up the funds for implementing the six guarantees and how it would generate additional income for the exchequer, he asked.

He said, “The Tablighi Jamaat is indulging in promotion of religious conversion and terrorism. When even Muslim countries banned the Tablighi Jamaat, why is the state government  sanctioning funds to it for conducting meetings at Vikarabad?”

Sanjay also said that the BJP would fight until the state government took action against those who indulged in the  '130 crore Smart City project scam in the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
