HC Dismisses SCCL Plea Seeking Time for Trade Union Elections

Update: 2023-09-25 18:16 GMT

HYDERABAD: Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by the management of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) seeking more time for conducting the trade union elections.

As per the earlier orders of the High Court, SCCL has to conclude the elections by the end of October. It was directed to begin the poll process in the first week of September. However, the SCCL management sought four to five months' time as it was difficult to hold elections during the festive season and the ensuing Assembly elections.

Justice Reddy heard the arguments of the management and trade unions for two days and on Monday dismissed the petition. Now, SCCL has to conduct the trade union elections without any further delay.
