Bhopal: At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about giving special status and respect to specially-abled people or 'divyangs', Laxmi Yadav, a specially-abled girl from Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal has sought euthanasia after being rejected for a job across the state.

Dejected, she has written to Prime Minister Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asking for euthanasia.

In her plea, Laxmi said that despite acquiring an M.Phil and LLM, she has been unable to find a job for herself, and that too when there is three percent reservation for specially-abled people.

"I have asked for euthanasia from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan that I am unable to find a job for myself despite being so qualified. For the last 10-12 years, I have been trying to get a job but all my efforts have gone in vain," Laxmi told ANI.

"I am more qualified than a normal person. I am just not able to do practice because everywhere I am being told that because I am physically challenged, I won't be able to work properly, won't be able to climb up the stairs etc, etc. They are more sure than me that I would not be able to work," she added.

She added that the Madhya Pradesh Government has launched so many yojnas, yet she has not benefitted.

"I am talking about the private sector wherever I have applied. If you don't give me job, then how would you be able to know about my efficiencies and capabilities," she said.
